The Young Cemetery is located on the western side of Putman County three-tenths mile from
the Smith County line. The cemetery is on a high hill on the east side of Brindley Hollow
Road near the intersection with Fitzpatrick Road. This cemeteryis very difficult to locate
in a very remote area. The cemetery is enclosed by a rock fence and is approx. one acre in
size. Based on the early stacked rock crypts it is estimated that the cemetery was first
used in the early 1800s. There are many graves unmarked and marked by fieldstones.
It is estimated that therecould be as many as 100 graves here.
There has not been a burial here in over 50 years.
