Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Kemp Duke, 75, wife of Will O. Duke of Defeated, were conducted Friday afternoon at the Hackett Funeral Home in Kempville by the Rev. Wesley Briley. Burial was in the Duke Family cemetery. Mrs. Duke died in Smith County Hospital Wednesday, December 22, after a long illness. She was born and reared in the Defeated Community, a daughter of the late James Layton and Josephine Witt Kemp.  She was a member of the Defeated Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Sircy and Mrs. Stanford Donoho, both of Difficult.
