respected ladies of the Difficult section, died at her home on Sunday
night, passing away at eight twenty o'clock from a heart disorder with
which she became afflicted a few month ago. She was 88 years of age
and the widow of the late John Morgan Kemp, who died 18 years ago.
She leaves one son, Asa Kemp, with whom the deceased made her
home; two daughters, Mrs. Hayden Turner, of Red Boiling Springs; and
Mrs. Henry Jones, of Difficult; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren,
and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon from
Hickory Grove Methodist church by Rev. J. L. Hale, assisted by Rev.
James Bysette. Burial followed in the family graveyard at the home. She
had been a devoted member of Hickory Grove Methodist church for about
70 years. She was a native of Defeated Creek, the daughter of James and
Talitha Cornwell Allen. She left a host of friends who esteemed her for
her sterling worth. Mrs. Dan Clark, of Lafayette, is a niece of the deceased.
