Mrs. Virgie Kemp Dies At Age of 88

      Mrs. Virgie Kemp, aged 88 years, one of the oldest and most highly

respected ladies of the Difficult section, died at her home on Sunday

night, passing away at eight twenty o'clock from a heart disorder with

which she became afflicted a few month ago. She was 88 years of age

and the widow of  the late John Morgan Kemp, who died 18 years ago.

She leaves one son, Asa Kemp, with whom the deceased made her

home; two daughters, Mrs. Hayden Turner, of Red Boiling Springs; and

Mrs. Henry Jones, of Difficult; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren,

and three great-great grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon from

Hickory Grove Methodist church by Rev. J. L. Hale, assisted by Rev.

James Bysette. Burial followed in the family graveyard at the home. She

had been a devoted member of Hickory Grove Methodist church for about

70 years. She was a native of Defeated Creek, the daughter of James and

Talitha Cornwell Allen. She left a host of friends who esteemed her for

her sterling worth. Mrs. Dan Clark, of Lafayette, is a niece of the deceased.
