Velma Lorell Glover Thomas

age 87 of Lafayette  passed Saturday October 6, 2007 at the Place in Red Boiling Springs...services on Tuesday October 9 from Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Cary Kemp and Elder Jackie Kemp officiating. Great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers, Patrick Thomas, Steve Walton, Terry, Mike and Jeff Gregory, Allen Gross, Warren Johnson, Jackie Farley served active pallbearer. Interment, Macon County Memorial Gardens.

She was born February 23, 1920, one of 15 siblings born to late William A. and Ossie Bell Durham Glover. She married Ernest Glen Thomas on December 24, 1938 who preceded her in death September 22, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband two children, Donald and Vernice Thomas; brothers Robert, Vernon and Edward Glover; sisters Jewel Freeze, Willie Pearl Hamlet, Elma Vierhiller, Madeline Glover and Carolyn Glover preceded her in death...survived by daughter Barbara (Carl) Kemp of Lafayette; brothers Bradley Glover of Nashville, Roy and William Glover both of Lebanon; sisters Mary Alice Warren of Carthage, Genile Roark of Kentucky, Louise Jackson of Gainesboro; daughter in law Ruby Thomas of Lafayette; sister in law Ella Glover of Ohio; grandchildren, Mary (Steve) Walton; Stacy (Bro. Jackie) Kemp; Patrick (Emily) Thomas all of Lafayette; Bro. Cary (Tonya) Kemp of Westmoreland; great-grandchildren Cory, Jordan, Tyler, Nathan, Caitlyn and Hannah Kemp, Katie and Alex Walton, Nathan Carver and Devin and Haley McCall; 13 foster children, John Johnson, James Hulet, John Young, Warren Johnson, Mary Ann Clark, Martha Bell Gross, Terry, Tony and Jeff Gregory, Brenda Farley, Michael Gregory, James Jones and Rebecca Boston, several foster grandchildren.
