BARKS , THORNTON

Hi,Im looking for some help on John THORNTON and Deleitha BARKS THORNTON who I beleive were living in Smith County, Tennessee in 1830.I found a John THORNTON living in Smith County in 1830 census with a female 15-20 years old living with John, and also there is a Henry BARKS living not to far away.I have been told the early marriage records have been distroyed by either man or nature. Do you have any suggestions on another way to find out anything? Do you know of anyone that might be able to help me find this information? John and Delitha THORNTON had two chrildren while living in TN they were named Samuel and Susan, in 1833 they relocated to Polk County, MO where they had three more chrildren, William C., Agnus E., and Joseph L. THORNTON. John passed away in 1840, leaving Delitha and the five chrildren behind. I found the will of John THORNTON in the court house in Polk County MO. Any help would be greatly apperiated. SHOEMAKE, KELLEY

I've made some progress but I need a connection. 1st:Does anyone have a line on Johnny SHOEMAKE, so I can connect Edna SHOEMAKE to his family? He married Ada Kelley. 2nd: Ada had 2 brothers Cleveland, & Vergil KELLEY, a sister Sally KELLEY Bryant. This family lived near Chestnut Mound. Their parents were James & Susan KELLEY. The KELLEY siblings all lived to be very old. Ada may be buried in the Dickens Cemetery along with Cleveland, Sally & Vergil KELLEY . Vergil was married to Edna SHOEMAKE, they had a daughter together in 1915 and they divorced sometime later. A few years later Vergil remarried again, and had another daughter when she was 6 years old Vergil and her mom divorced. Vergil left after that and 45 years later he reunited with his daughter from his 2nd marriage. Some information came from a Putnam County newspaper in an issue printed around 1984. The paper done a story on the KELLEY siblings because they've lived a long life. I would appreciate any help on those KELLEY's too!!!

DARNELL, HALL

Seeking information on any DARNELL from Smith County, especially James DARNELL who married Sarah J. HALL in 1866 in Smith Co. They are not found in 1870 census. Where did they go? What relation is John P. DARNELL who is found in 1866 and 1867 tax lists of Smith Co.? Sarah J. HALL is believed to be the daughter of Susan ("Matilda") HALL, who was a daughter of Claiborne HALL and Elizabeth HEROD. Seeking to include this branch of family in family history.

DUVALL, OWENS, REASONOVER, HALL, SKELTON, REID

Seeking information on William DUVALL, born 1808 Newberry County, South Carolina, son of Caesar DUVALL. He came to Smith County before 1840. In 1841 he divorced Mary Ann OWENS who abandoned her "three little daughters of very tender age" according to the divorce record. What happened to Mary Ann? After this marriage, he supposedly married Hannah _____. In 1847 he married Martha REASONOVER in Smith Co. After getting into much legal trouble, he left for Arkansas in 1857 with a sock full of gold, according to family tradition. He died in Nevada Co. AR in Oct. 1875. Children by first wife were: Sarah SKELTON, Mary DUVALL, and Mollie HALL (wife of William C. HALL). Children by third wife were: William Early DUVALL, John Joseph DUVALL, and Princess Elizabeth REID who went to AR. A brother of William's named Charles also lived in Smith Co. where he died in 1863. I am happy to exchange all information on this very interesting ancestor.

HALL, HEROD

Seeking ancestry of Claiborne HALL, born about 1788 or 1789 VA, died 1874 Smith Co. TN. He was married to Elizabeth HEROD, daughter of Rev. War veteran William HEROD of Spotsylvania Co. VA. Supposedly Claiborne HALL is brother of Nathan HALL of Smith Co., born 1792 VA, married Frances HEROD, another daughter of William HEROD. There appears to possibly be a connection with one Thomas HALL who received two land grants for 30 and 6 acres respectively in Smith Co. in 1815. There also appears to have been a connection with two HALL women named Jane and Sarah who "ran off" with Elijah TONEY to Jackson County, Alabama in 1834. Were they his sisters? Who are the parents? I am working on a publication of the descendants of Claiborne HALL and Elizabeth HEROD.
