KEMP

KEMP I recently came across a copy of the Macon Co. Times dated April 19, 1984, Sec. c pg. 1. There is a picture of the KEMP family (who lived in Smith & Macon Co.) It state that it was made at a reunion at Sycamore Valley Bapt. Church in 1924 and that names are unknown. My mother has written in the border all the names except two and she just states "wife".

Go To Kemp Reunion Picture

If anyone has a copy of this picture I am trying to find out the name of Jesse's wife. I am pretty sure this is Jesse Alexander, s/o James (Uncle Willie)Kemp & Jemima. If so I know that Jesse m. lst Susan OLIVER but according to cemetery records she died in 1921. The picture looks very much like one I have of her and Jesse with 4 children. I will be glad to list all the names if anyone needs them and will appreciate any help.

MCGHEE, MCGEE, SMITH

Looking for infor on James William MCGEE (forebears were likey MCGHEEs), b near Carthage 1841, two sisters Mary M. & Martha J. (possibly other siblings?). About 1864, McGee married Lucinda SMITH (b 1846). They had two sons: William Monroe MCGHEE (b abt 1864, Rome, Smith Co) and James Marion MCGEE b abt 1865. (Wm Monroe added the 'h' to his name -- but family story says that earlier ancestors all had the 'h'.)

James & Lucinda, along with their sons & Mary & Martha, moved to Cotton Plant, Woodruff Co, AR in 1866. Lucinda dies in Nov 1866, James died in 1867. Mary 7 Martha raised the boys for a while, the sent them to a George Finch in Patoka, Gibson Co, IN to be raised.

Mary McGee tried twice to claim land that Jame Monroe was to inherit, but both times a SNODDY (J.H. & T.B) alerted James.

Interested in McGhees, but also in Lucinda SMITH. Who were her people?

Searching for a Mary Louise (possibly Louisa) ADAMS, born between 1837 and 1841. Parents, I think, were James ADAMS and Lucretia HUNT. Anyway, any info on the ADAMS or HUNT families would be greatly appreciated since according to the records at my library--none of them exist!

DYER,GREGORY

Looking for any information on MARY E. DYER. She was the third wife of THOMAS J. GREGORY. Together they had three children, THOMAS BETHEL,ETHEL,AND ELLA MAE GREGORY. ELLA MAE was my g-grandmother. If anyone has any info on MARY E. DYER OR ANY OF THEIR CHILDREN I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. Thomas J. Gregory was the son of Bethel J Gregory who was the son of William Clayton Gregory if that helps keep the Thomas J. Gregory straight from the numerous other Thomas Gregorys. My G-Grandmother,ELLA MAE, was born September 7,1901 in Smith Co. TN. I calculated that her mother MARY E. DYER would have been born in the 1870 to 1880.
