FRANCIS HAYNES GORDON

Greetings from Sydney Australia. Some time ago, a book came into my possession which I believe may have once belonged to Francis Haynes Gordon. I had done some research a few months back but unfortunately lost all my work when my computer was stolen.
Are you able to assist in identifying the signature in the book (email me for file attached photo) to any you may have on record? As you can see the signature is dated September 1862, which fits in with his life.
By way of interest and for your information, the book is a history of Greece and although not related to agriculture, it does tie in with FH Gordon's education, profession and wealth. There are other scriblings in the book but they have faded and are unclear. There is also a hand drawn map of Athens which may mean the owner travelled to Greece personally- but this is speculation only.
Any information you may provide would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

COWEN,COWAN

WILSON COWAN/COWEN migrated from Tennessee to Brown County, Ohio, with his family (wife ELIZA, children AMANDA, ELIZABETH, FRANKLIN, JULIA, SARAH B., JAMES) sometime between 1845 and 1850. The Cowens are in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Censuses in Ohio. I want to find them in 1840. Which county has the most African American freedmen and/or COWEN slaveowners in 1840?

HARVILL, HARVEL

Looking for information on David HARVILL(HARVEL) born abt 1808 in NC, His son Reems Harvill also listed as Absalom Harvill, Absalom R Harvill born about 1849 in Smith County. Listed as Reems Harvell in 1850 Census, Mispelled in 1860 Census (Alfered G.) by 1870 Census listed as Absalom HARVEL I believe Absalom moved to Cumberland County After 1900. Since he he went by his middle name he has been a little hard to track, the variation caused by different Spellings.

HARRELL, LEE, KILLEN, GRANADE, SANDERSON, HARRISON, TROUSDALE

Some of earliest Smith county pioneers came from North Carolina, including Enos Harrell and Asenith Lee Harrell. Their son was Asa Harrell and they adopted a girl about the year 1806: Elizabeth Granade, probably the daughter of John Granade. Earliest date I have on Enos in Smith cty is 1802. Looking for ANY additional information, especially on Lee and Granade lines.

WHALEN

I am searching for information on Guy WHALEN born in Tennessee about 1934. He was in the military, Air force, I believe, and was either stationed in or around Memphis or was on leave there in September 1953 when he was about 20 years old. If this gent is living, he would be about 70 years old. He has proven to be my impenetrable brick wall. If you have information on him or his descendants, please, contact me. A big thank you from a frustrated genealogist!
