Later known officially as Company F, 22nd Cavalry Regiment
An * after the name denotes continued service after becoming Company F in the 22nd or 2nd Tennessee Cavalry. This company was organized at Fountain Head, Sumner County, Tennessee.
Micajah T. Griffin - Captain. Resigned upon non-election at the reorganization. Went home. Recruited Company A, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.
Fisher A. Cole - 2nd Lieutenant. Not elected at reorganization.
Alfred Jackson - 2nd Lieutenant.. In battle of Shiloh. Exposure on retreat from Shiloh caused paralysis. Laid in a blacksmith shop for three weeks with no medicaI care. Discharged at reorganization by Special Order No. 84 from General Beauregard. While this was being arranged he was transfered to Company I, 2nd Tennessee Infantry in place of John E. Denning, who was later killed at Harrisburg, Mississippi.
Andrew A. Jones - Bvt. 2nd Lieutenant. Not reelected at reorganization. Enlisted in Company E, 43rd Tennessee Infantry.
Elias W. Armstrong - 1st Sergeant. Detailed as assistant Quartermaster, November 15, 1861. Discharged just before reorganization.
James T. Austin* - 1st Sergeant, replacing Armstrong. 1st Lieutenant, May 15, 1862, replacing Cole. Wounded in right shoulder at Palo Alto, Mississippi, April 24, 1863. In hospital four months. Wounded in left thigh by mini ball at Harrisburg, Mississippi, July 13, 1864. In hospital eight weeks. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, June 10, 1865. Was sent with Sidney B. Rigsbee in early 1862, to carry a sick comrade John R. Culbreath home to Richland Station (Portland).
John A. Brinkley* - 2nd Sergeant. Elected Captain at reorganization in place of Captain Griffin. Wounded at Scottsboro, Alabama, March 31, 1865.
Warren L. Cochran* - 3rd Sergeant. Made 5th Sergeant at reorganization. Given a 30 day furlough November 9, 1862. Did not return.
James L. Shaw* - 4th Sergeant. Made 1st Sergeant at reorganization. Detailed to buy horses, July 1, 1863. Did not return. Had been captured at Gallatin, July 22, 1863. Oath.
William C. Jackson* - 1st Corporal. Sent home November 8, 1862, to get clothing Returned to regiment May 12, 1863. Deserted October 15, 1863. Captured at Columbia, Tennessee, sent to Nashville. Oath, to be released at Mitchellville, Tennessee.
William M. Wilson - 2nd Corporal. Made 3rd Sergeant, at reorganization, replacing Cockran. Furnished horse valued at $1,200.
John R. BrinkIey - 3rd Corporal. Made 1st Sergeant, at reorganization, replacing Austin. Wounded at Fort Pillow, Tennessee, April 10, 1864. Left at Brownsville, Tennessee, unable to be moved.
Andrew J. Pearson - 4th Corporal. Ordered to report for duty at Gallatin. Did not report. Marked deserted. Name appears in Company E, 2nd Tennessee Cavalry "Ashby's".
Samuel R Kelly - Bugler. On sick report September 27, 1862. Helpless. Robert H Jackson detailed to care for him. Died at Fulton, Mississippi, October 19, 1862, the day his enlistment expired.
John E. Lefler - Bugler. Double barreled shotgun valued at $15, furnished by self.
William Crabb* - Blacksmith. Bugler. Wounded in chest at Shiloh, April 7, 1862, by canister. Disabled several months. Wounded at Harrisburg, Mississippi, July 13, 1864. On detached service, led by Captain Rickman to destroy the L & N Railroad near Mitchellville, Tennessee. Mission failed. Double barreled shotgun valued at $15 furnished by self. He and wife died in Sumner County Poor House.
Joseph V. W. Frease - Blacksmith. Deserted February 17, 1863.
Abston, Henry L. - Enlisted June 12, 1862. Double barreled shotgun valued at $35, furnished by Mr. Wilkinson. Also served in Company F, 8th Tennessee Cavalry.
Bailey, Samuel H. - Deserted between Gallatin and Nashville on retreat from Bowling Green, Kentucky, February 17, 1862. Had been guarding the railroad between South Tunnel and Nashville.
Baldridge, Charles* - Wounded accidently on march August 30, 1862. Sent to hospital at Okolona, Mississippi. Shown on roll through October 1863.
Biggs, William S. - Enlisted February 2, 1862. Accidently wounded in foot by own gun. At home able to go about when the regiment retreated from Bowling Green, Kentucky, February 17, 1862. Claimed Rheumatism and paralysis. Marked as deserter.
Barteau, Clark R. - Elected Colonel of regiment. See list of officers just before service rolls.
Biggs. Sanford B. - Deserted March, 14, 1865. Oath at Memphis.
Blackard, A. Green* - Discharged on disability at Okolona, Mississippi, January 23, 1863.
Bowling, David C.* - Deserted August 11, 1863.
Bond, William* - Wounded at Harrisburg, Mississippi, July 14, 1864.
Bonner, Robert H. - Enlisted at reorganization. No further record.
Bracken, William - Enlisted at reorganization. No further record. Prior service in the 2nd Cavalry Battalion which by consolidation became part of the 6th Tennessee Cavalry.
Briley, Elisha* - Wounded and captured at Pulaski, Tennessee, September 27, 1864. Both bones in leg broken by mini ball. Leg amputated same day in U. S. hospital at Nashville where he died November 9, 1864, from exhaustion, from effects from the gunshot wound. Grave No. 9783, Nashville City Cemetery.
Briley, John W.* - Deserted August 11, 1863.
Briley, S. Howard* - Deserted at Egypt, Mississippi, December 17, 1862, angered by an officers remark. With Jacob "Dock" Link.
Brinkley, Henry A.* - Court Martial forfeiture of one month's pay for absence without leave. Detailed as nurse for J. K. Brinkley, who was wounded at Fort Pillow, Tennessee.

Brown, William L.* - Wounded and captured at Medon, Tennessee, September 1, 1862. Exchanged. Killed at Harrisburg. Mississippi, July 13, 1864.
Buck, David F. - Deserted between Gallatin and Nashville on retreat from Bowling Green, Kentucky, February 17, 1862, with Samuel R. Bailey. Had been guarding the L & N Railroad between South Tunnel and Gallatin.
Carr, James K. Sr.* - 2nd Sergeant. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, May 11, 1865.

Culbreath, John R.* - Enlisted in October 1861. Carried home sick by Sidney B. Riggsby and James T. Austin. Returned to regiment when able. Deserted June 6, 1863.

Denning, John E.* - Transfered from Company I, 2nd Tennessee Infantry March 30, 1862, in place of Alfred Jackson. Made 2nd Lieutenant, June 15, 1862. Killed at Harrisburg, Mississippi, July 13, 1864.
Dobbins, Richard B.* - 2nd Lieutenant, June 15, 1862. Captured at Pulaski, Tennessee, November 23, 1863. Sent to Camp Chase, 0hio. Was asked when he was going to take the oath, his reply was, "When Hell freezes over.'' He did not have to wait 'that long. Was released by special order of President Lincoln, April 23, 1864.
Douglas, Robert* - Wounded at Fort Pillow, Tennessee, April 12, 1864.
Douglas, Charles Sanders - Prior service in companies F and H, 30th Tennessee Infantry, also see. After service in above mentioned Companies enlisted in this Company and was paroled at Citronelle, Alabama, May 11, 1865.
Douglas, James - Enlisted at reorganization. No further record. Name appears in Company D, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry.

Hardin, James - Left sick, when the regiment retreated from Bowling Green, Kentucky, February 17, 1862. Captured at Keysburg, Kentucky, February 25, 1862, and died in prison.
Hardin, Joseph - Sent to Guard House at Tupelo, Mississippi, June 20, 1864. Disappeared. Enlisted in Company A, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.
Hardin, Robert - Left sick in Tennessee February 17, 1862. Still unfit for duty in May 1862. Enlisted in Company A, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.

Hester, William B. - Captured at Reinzi (Iuka), Mississippi, Oct. 1, 1862. Released on oath. Enlisted in Company D, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see. From Mitchellville.
Hudson, Irby* - Detailed as Teamster. Furnished horse valued at $1.000. Took the oath October 15, 1864.
Hudleston, J. T.* "Coon" - Wounded at Murfreesboro in December 1864, on Hood's Invasion. Captured in Wilson County, Tennessee.
Jackson, James* - Captured at Okolona. Mississippi. Exchanged. Detailed to Provost Guard.
Jackson, John H.* - Deserted at Okolona, Mississippi, December 25, 1862. Carried horse, bridle and saddle with him.
Johnson, John C. - Captured March 1, 1863. Exchanged, sick. Did not report to the regiment. Died. Prior service in Company F, 30th Infantry.
Johnson, Robert H. - No horse first month. Detailed to care for Samuel, Kelly who was sick and died. Then deserted.
Kincaid, Eli H.* - Court Martialed. Cause illegible. Had been absent without leave since July 15, 1863.
Kincaid, John H.* - Enlistment expired October 19, 1862.
Lanier, John R." - Discharged at Okolona, Mississippi, June 26, 1863, Became a doctor in Portland, Tennessee, after the war.
Lee, Isaac - Corporal, June 15, 1861, at reorganization. Deserted May 11, 1863. Claimed to be on detached service getting horses. Captured and took. the oath. This from his pension a application.
Legge, David M. - Deserted July 15, 1863.
Legge, William E.* - Deserted July 15, 1863. In battles at Shiloh and Mud Creek, Alabama.
Lewis, John F.* - Corporal, June 15, 1862. Then Sergeant. On detached duty with Captain Rickman, Warren, Freedle, Crabb and Williams to interfere with the operation of the L & N Railroad in Sumner County, Tennessee. Mission failed.
Lefler, Jacob F.* - Detailed to care for Thomas W. Link, October 25, 1863, who had been wounded at Cherokee, Alabama, and was hospitalized at Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Link, Jacob W.* "Dock" - Deserted at Egypt, Mississippi, December 17, 1862, with S. Howard Briley. They were angered by a remark of one of their officers.
Link, James M.* - Wounded at Fort Pillow, Tennessee, April 12, 1864. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, May 10, 1865.
Link, Thomas Wesley - Corporal, June 15, 1862 at reorganization. Wounded at Cane Creek, Alabama October 21, 1863. Wounded at Barton's Station (Cherokee), October 24, 1864 in thigh just above knee. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, May 10, 1865.

Mann, Thomas J. - Wounded at Shiloh April 7, 1862. Sent home by Regimental Surgeon. Enlisted in Company F, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see. Had been 2nd Lieutenat in this company.
Martin, George W.* - Enlisted October 19, 1861, for three years. In battles at Shiloh, Corinth, Iuka, Brice's Crossroads and Okolona. Captured at home in late 1863. Sent to Penitentiary, at Nashville. Enlisted in U. S. Army. Stayed nine days. Deserted. Joined Ellis Harper's Guerillas and served to end of war. From Richland Station (Portland).
Moore, Joseph W. - Enlisted October 19, 1861 , for three years. Deserted May 3, 1862. Carried off a government saddle. Had chronic diarrhea when he left army. Had been in the battle of Shiloh, April 7, 1862. Enlisted in Company B, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.
Morris, J. F. - Enlistment for one year expired October 19, 1862.
Nimmo, John B. - Discharged by Captain Griffin about June 1862.
Owens, William - Deserted June 11, 1862. Killed in Sumner County.
Penuel, Newsom* - 3rd Lieutenant, June 15, 1862, replacing J. A. Brinkley. Had Measles and was left at the home of a Mr. Wishburn in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Measles caused deafness. Captured at Pulaski, Tennessee, November 11, 1863. Sent to Camp Chase, 0hio, then to Fort Delaware, Maryland. Paroled June 15, 1865. Between Measles and capture, he served for a time in Company F, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.
Pitt, Bridger B.* - Enlisted February 4, 1862. Sick with Fever. Unfit for service. Deserted August 1, 1863. Had been in battles at Shiloh, Bryce's Cross Roads and Okolona. Never fit for service again.
Rigsbee, Sidney B.* - Enlisted October 19, 1861. From Richland Station. Sent with James T. Austin to take John R. Culbreath, who was sick, to his home near Richland. Returning to the army in haste, his horse fell on him in Gallatin, January 1, 1862. Hips fractured. Pelvic bone broken. Ruptured. Bedfast three months. On crutches three months. Refused a discharge. Left in Tennessee February 17, 1862, on retreat from Bowling Green. Unable to ride. Was marked deserted. As soon as able, enlisted in Company E, 9th Tennessee Cavalry, also see.
Roberts, Berry H. "Dock"* - Under arrest at Columbia, Tennessee, for disobedience of orders. Deserted September 1, 1863.

Sanford, George W. - Enlisted at the reorganization in June 1862. Detailed to wagon train. Captured at Verona, Mississippi March 2, 1363. Sent to AIton, Illinois. Exchanged. Paroled at Citronelle, Alabama, May 11, 1865.
Sissom, James M. - Transfered to Company I, 2nd Tennessee Infantry in place of James R. Sanford, who had hired John E, Denning as substitute. Transfer was made March 30, 1862
Stark, Benjamin P.* - Deserted July 15, 1863.
Stovall, Alben Gallie* - Enlisted at the reorganization in June 1862. Left sick in Tennessee, March 20, 1864.
Stovall, William B.* - 3rd Corporal, June 15, 1862 at reorganization. Enlisted November 11, 1861. In battles at Shiloh, Okolona, Brice's Crossroads, Harrisburg, and Fort Pillow. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, October 19, 1865.
Strother, William - Enlistment expired October 19 1862. Name appears in Company I, 7th Tennessee Infantry.
Summers, Joseph P.* - Detailed as Teamster, October 31, 1863.
Trauber, William - Deserted May 3, 1862. Carried off a government saddle.
Trigg, John H. - Enlistment expired October 19, 1862. Enlisted in Company E, 154th Senior Regiment Tennessee Infantry where he was made 2nd Lieutenant.
Vance, James M. - Discharged May 1, 1862. Enlisted in Company A, 3rd Tennessee Infantry "Clack's".
Walker, Thomas Joseph* - Detailed as Teamster. Discharged in June 1862.
Warren, Washington N.* - Enlisted October 19, 1861. In battles at ShiIoh, Corinth, Okolona, Memphis, Bryce's Crosssroads, Mud Creek and Harrisburg. Dangerously wounded at Meridian, Mississippi, March 9, 1864. Mini ball taken out of back. Sent by General Forrest with a small detail under Captain Rickman to destroy the L & N Railroad north of Richland Station (Portland), but finding railroad too closely guarded for their small detail they were told by Captain Rickman to visit their homes for a few days and await developments. Captured at his home in the Clearview Community. Carried to Nashville where He took the oath to avoid a northern prison. Afterwards a teacher in Sumner County, Tennessee.
West, Wesley W * - Enlisted October 19, 1861. Left sick in Kentucky on retreat from Bowling Green, February 17, 1862. Rejoined regiment. Wounded seriously in right shoulder by shell fragment, breaking three, ribs. Wounded by a pistol ball in left knee cap. In hospital for three Months. Paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, May 10, 1865.
Wilkinson, Charles W.* - Enlisted October 19, 1861. Wounded at Shiloh, April 7, 1862, in right elbow joint, cutting tendon and shattering bone. 0ffered a discharge on disability at Corinth, Mississippi. Refused discharge. Wounded in leg while on picket duty at Corinth, Mississippi. Captured at Bolivar, Tennessee, February 22, 1864. Sent to Alton, Illinois, then to Camp Douglas, Illinois. After twelve months in prison, took the oath.
Wilkerson, George. W." - Left sick in Kentucky on retreat from Bowling Green, Febrauary 17, 1862. Served four months in General Wheeler's Cavalry. Wounded by sword being run through thigh. Captured. Sent to Rock Island, Illinois. Spent 22 months in prison. Exchanged at Aikin's Landing, Virginia, below Dutch Gap on the James River. This was 23 days before the war ended.
Wilkinson, Robert H. F. - Discharged May 1, 1862.
Wilkinson, Thomas J. - Enlisted after the reorganization of the regiment. Deserted March 24, 1863.
Wilkinson , Lafayette H . C. - Enlisted after the reorganization. No record.
Williams, Green P.* - 2nd Sergeant, June 13, 1862, at reorganization. Killed in Kentucky in late 1864. One of Captain Rickman's detailed previously mentioned. Furnished horse valued at $1,100.
Williams, John - Captured at Bolivar, Tennessee, February 5, 1864. Released on oath February 2, 1865.
Wynns, Joel Whitt* - Enlisted January 13 , 1862, for one year. Reenlisted January 22, 1863. Given a 60 day furlough and did riot return. Reinstated March 24, 1863.
Wynns, William T. - Prior service in the 2nd Tennessee Infantry where he was wounded at Bull Run, Virginia. Transfered to this company March 4, 1862.
Wynne, Robert S. - Deserted March 24, 1863.
