RICE,EFFLER  11 Aug 1998

Joseph and Elizabeth (EFFLER) RICE, lived in Kittyton around 1880. Children Bessie RICE(1882), John Floyd(1892), Perry(1900), Molly(1901),Fletcher(1908), Pearl(?), Ollie and Fred. Originally from Flag Pond. Can't find any records for Joseph and Elizabeth or before. This was soon after Unicoi was formed from Washington and Carter Counties. Maybe birth records are in Washington County since Flag Pond was in Washington County.

TIPTON, EDWARDS, and JERRERIES(JEFFERS)  20 Dec 1997

I have little information on my family line in Erwin, Tennessee. Here's all I know..my great-great grandfather's name was Wylis TIPTON. He married Betty EDWARDS, who was half Indian, and they had at least 9 children..Samuel who married Nan and had Roscoe and Grover; Dolph who was the youngest; Ike who married Bessy; Willis; Soloman; Wilse; Grover; Emmalina who married a MITCHELL; and my great grandmother Sarah Jane who married Alfred Alexander JEFFERIES(JEFFERS). Sarah was born in Bakersville, Tennessee on Aug.12,1889 and died April 30,1971 in Knoxville,TN.

Betty EDWARDS TIPTON was born in Morley,TN on June 30,1865 and died July 25,1937 in Knoxville, TN. Interment was in Peabody, TN.

I have a picture taken in 1918 with a McKinley TIPTON and an Annie TIPTON among others of the family.

Sarah eventually moved to Knoxville, TN. She had 5 children. Hazel Beatrice is the 1st born and also my grandmother. Other children were Linsey Leroy "Zeke", Floyd Houston, Nellie Juanita and last, Trula Cora Francis Eileen "Eileen". Sarah and Alfred were married in Marshall, North Carolina in 1907. Alfred was from Greenville, TN. I know "Zeke" was born in Erwin.

That's about all I have and would appreciate ANY info on either side of the family. Sarah grew up in or close to Nolichuckey.

WEAVER  18 February 1998

I would like to volunteer to do "Look Ups" from a book I have entitled, "The Weaver Families of Georgia - Volume I."

The book contains genealogical details (ancestry, descendancy and family stories) of about 17 Weaver families who were in Georgia prior to (or by) the 1850 Census. The book is 555 pages and indexes over 6,000 names. The information documents the various migrations of the Weaver families from Virginia and the Carolinas and Tennessee into Georgia and Florida, and then the westward trek to Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas and further.

While my book may not contain an exact connection to your specific county, it is my hope that someone researching more contemporary ancestors may find themselves at a dead end in your county. I may be able to help someone stuck in 1860-70 to trace their Weaver roots back to VA, NC or GA and then back to the 1600-1700's (or further) into Wales, England or Germany.

If I can't help them, maybe they could help me. I hope to have Volume II ready for publication sometime at the dawn of the new century.
