Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Turner

(22 Nov. 1859 - 5 Dec. 1916)

"Loyston, Tenn., Dec. 9.-- Mrs. Elizabeth Turner, widow of John W. Turner, was first of this week, found dead in her bed.

She had been a widow about six years, and was the mother of seven children, three boys and three girls.  The boys are Ben H., of Kocomo, Ind.; Walter and McKinley, of Loyston.  The daughters are Mrs. George Roddy, of Knoxville; Mrs. Emerson Longmire, of Hill's school house, Knox county, and Mrs. Alice Henry, of Knoxville.

Mrs. Turner was about 58 years old, and was a woman of Christian character.  She had been a member of the Loyston Baptist church since its organization many years ago.  She was either the first or second person baptized into membership after the organization of the church.

Probably the largest funeral procession that was ever seen in this village followed her body to the cemetery."

This obituary was "special to the Knoxville Sentinel," December 9, 1916.

I did not change any of the spelling and left the error of seven children rather than six.
