In 1949, REV. JOHNNY JONES secured permission to hold church services in an old abandoned house on the property of ELBERT WARWICK. A revival was held and the attendants were so great that many had to stand outside during the services. Many souls were saved while others re-dedicated their lives to Christ. Following the revival many people were interested in holding services on a weekly basis and in organizing a church.
On Sunday afternoon of Apiri 20, 1952, thirteen charter members met at the old house and organized a church that was named Warwick's Chapel. At the meeting REV. JOHNNY JONES was elected pastor and received seven candidates for baptism. In 1954 the church voted to build a church on a tract of land donated by MR.& MRS. ELMER COOPER. In 1955, the name of the church was officially changed to Hinds Creek Baptist Church. The church continues to prosper under the leadership of its present pastor, REV. CLYDE COKER, through a ministry of worship services, a sound Sunday School, weekly visitation program, and Vacation Bible School. The church with a membership of 23B is a member of the Midland Association of Baptists and supports Foreign Missions and Tennessee Childrens Orphan Homes.
