Ms. Mary Frances Stafford, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away in the summer of 1998. Her executor contacted the Wayne County Historical Society and gave the Society a collection of photographs, letters and other items which had belonged to Ms. Stafford's mother, Dora Louise McCorkle Stafford. These items included materials from Mrs. Stafford's parents, William J. and Mattie E. Brewer McCorkle. The photographs, letters and other items relate to Wayne County, Tennessee and Lauderdale County, Alabama people; and particularly to the history of the Cypress Inn, Wayne County, Tennessee area.
     Most of the photographs are unidentified. We are publishing those photographs, along with those which were identified, in an effort to identify those unknown. This page is therefore broken down into two main subcategories:
