Ray School About 1921-1925
| The attached picture is the Ray School in Wayne County sometime around 1923-25 as the Clay family moved to Arkansas in 1925. My father, Talmadge Clay, two of his brothers and his Gallaher cousins are in this picture. My grandmother was Lillie Olive Gallaher married to Issac Ulie Clay on 3/4/1910. Hopefully someone can tell you who some of the other people in this picture might be and confirm that it is the Ray School. My father's cousins, Margaret Gallaher and her brother-in-law, Alfred Gallaher still live on the Gallaher place outside of Waynesboro. "my mother in law Rhoda Lay the girl in white second from the left in I think would be the third roll. Was born in 1909 and she looks to be about 12-13. I would say the picture was made between 1921-1923. Rhoda was married in 1925 at the age of 16 3/4." - Submitted by Margaret Freeman |
