|This "Prospectus" was found in the files of
the Tennessee Department of Geology. The Tennessee Iron and Chemical Co. of Collinwood,
Tennessee was the successor to the Tennessee Valley Iron and Railroad Company which had
gone bankrupt in 1918. The "prospectus" of the Tennessee Iron and Chemical Co.
provides an excellent photographic chronicle of the plant, the company operations and the
Town of Collinwood about 1920.
Some of the photographs which appear on the following pages were apparently made prior to 1920. Photograph identifications which do not appear in the original prospectus will appear on these pages in brackets [ ], and are added by the county coordinator.
Additional photographs of the building of the plant between March 1918 and June 1918 will be posted on the Wayne County Album page which is currently under construction.
