|On Monday afternoon, Oct. 26,
1908, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam BAKER burned, causing the next house,
that of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin COATS to catch fire. From that, the Methodist
Church and parsonage caught and burned. The community quickly came
together to build a new church building.
Ruben A. Heavner, of Jackson, was employed to draw plans for the new church. He did so, building the church on a smaller, but similar plan to that of the Union City Methodist Church.
The church was finished in plenty of time to entertain the Annual conference of 1909 and it remained one of Greenfield's most attractive structures until 1977 when it too burned down.
