     The Weakley County, Tennessee Genealogical Society was organized in June of 1978 with fourteen charter members.  Charter members were Charlotte Reynolds, Pansy Baker, Col. James Corbitt, Joe Richardson, Shirley Buckley, Joan Butler, Martha Hutchens, Justine Erwin, June Simmons, June Waterfield, Zula Capps, Robbie Elliott, Lucile Sharrock, and Charles Tyner.  As of today the society has had almost 800 members present and past being scattered all across the United States and in some foreign countries. 

       Forget Me Not, a quarterly bulletin was first published by the Weakley County Genealogical Society in April, 1982.  This bulletin is mailed to members of the genealogical society.  Back issues are available. 

      The Weakley County Genealogical Society has completed many projects and have many projects ongoing....Completed projects are:  Volumes I and II of the 1880 Weakley County Census, Volumes I, II and III of Weakley County Marriages, Weakley Remembered Volumes I, II, III and IV, and Weakley County History Book. The society has many ongoing projects, such as securing old church records and obituaries.

By becoming a member of the Weakley County Genealogical Society you are entitled to: 

1.  Master Surname File Research 
2.  Names & Addresses of those researching the same surnames 
3.  Will be listed in the Registrar at the Weldon Public Library in Martin 
4.  The quarterly bulletin 
5.  Your name will be listed as a new member, along with your surnames 
6.  Free queries for members in bulletin.  One dollar fee to non-members. 
7.  Ancestral charts published in bulletin 
8.  All of your correspondence will be placed in files at the Weldon Library 
9.  Your letter will be read at the WCGS meeting.

The Weakley County Genealogy Society is proud to announce the availability of Obituary Books for Weakley County, Tennessee for the years 1969 ­ 2005. Each book is indexed and contains one year of obituaries.

This is an ongoing project as work continues for years prior to 1969. Books are offered, unbound, without holes.
