Welcome to the Genealogy TreeHouse! The TreeHouse offers Internet genealogists a place to meet, check out queries and URLs, post success stories, ask (or answer) a Brick Wall question, take genealogy exams, read free online lessons, and more. The TreeHouse was the result of a series of Virtual University online genealogy classes taught by Marthe Arends--hence you see both VU and Marthe's names mentioned a lot. Our goal in creating the TreeHouse was to share some of the excellent resources students of the VU genealogy classes have created, as well as providing a place to explore genealogical resources. You won't find any databases with marriage records here, or census extracts, or obituaries, or any number of other items which are the focus of other online projects. Instead, you'll find a spot where genealogists come to relax, kick off their shoes, share their triumphs and problems, view interesting and informative study group project pages, and just generally enjoy themselves. Maybe you'll just learn a little something while you are at it! The TreeHouse is a new growth, so its limbs are a little bare at the moment. But as the spring and summer come, we hope to leaf out the resources with a weekly chat session, How-To ideas and other items. If you have something you'd like to see, let us know! We're always open to suggestions. |
