     Sarah was born circa 1825 at near Sandusky, Erie County, Ohio.1,2 She was the daughter of William MeWhorter and Diana McKendry. She married Joseph Mann at Adams County, Indiana, on 11 May 1841.

MARRIAGE LICENSE:

Be it remembered that on the 11th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-one, a licensed (sic) was issued out of the clerk's office of the said Adams Circuit Court in the words and figures following to wit: the State of Indiana, Adams County, ss: The State of Indiana, to any person empowered by law to solemnize marriages. Greeting: Know ye, that I, Samuel L. Rugg, clerk of the Adams Circuit Court, by the full power by law in me vested do hereby authorize and license you to celebrate and perform the rights of matrimony between Joseph Mann and Sarah Jane McWhorter by uniting them together as husband and wife. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said court at the clerk's office in the town of Decatur this 11th day of May A.D. 1841, Samuel L. Rugg, Clerk. To wit: on the 11th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-one, Abraham DeHaven filed his certificate in the clerk's office of the said court in words and figures following to wit: State of Indiana, Adams County, ss: I Abraham DeHaven, one of the Justices for said county, do hereby certify that the rights of matrimony were by me duly celebrated and performed between Joseph Mann and Sarah Jane McWhorter by uniting them in marriage as husband and wife on the 11th day of May A.D. 1841 upon the authority of a license issued out of the clerk's office of said county on the 11th day of May 1841. .3,4 Sarah died on 7 January 1865 at Adams County, Indiana.5 Her body was interred in 1865 at Mann Cemetery, Root Twp., Adams County, Indiana.

     Sarah was probably a free white female, age 15 and under 20, in William MeWhorter's household, on the 1840 Census at Root Twp., Adams County, Indiana.6 Sarah was listed as a household member living with Joseph Mann on the 1850 Census at Preble Twp., Adams County, Indiana.2 Sarah was listed as a household member living with Joseph Mann in the 1860 Census at Preble Twp..7
