Counties. I have recently discovered that many Texas Teachers, Historians and
Genealogists have misled the student and the public in understanding the
meaning of the formation and organization of our Texas Counties.
Due to this , the Texas Empire lost her part of New Mexico , Colorado , Montana. Al and the present Oklahoma Panhandle., in 1906, due to a U S Supreme Court decision, she lost one of her largest counties, GREER to Oklahoma. Since then Texas lost over 400 acres which the Bush regime of the
early 1990's gave to Mexico due to the Rio Grande change of channel
, and to gain the present trade agreement with MEXICO.
Wheeler County had the following unorganized counties attached to
her for a brief period of time, Gray, Collinsworth, Childress, Hemphill,
Lipscomb, Roberts, Ochiltree, Hutchinson, Donley, Armstrong, Hall, Briscoe,
Hansford, Carson and Greer. They were also known as Wheeler county precincts
until populated enough to petition to become self governing counties.
