Joseph Shiller Services Held Today
Services for Joseph Schiller, Sr., 80, who died suddenly of heart failure at his home in Nelsonville on Tuesday, were held his morning at his late residence. Burial was in the Santa Anna cemetery.
Mr. Schiller was born in Cermna, Czechoslovakia on May 8, 1857, coming to the United States at the age of eighteen. Here he married Miss Annie Maresh, and became the father of nine children, one of whom preceded him in death about fifty years. Mrs. Schiller died on September 27, 1923.
A retired farmer, Mr. Schiller was highly regarded by his multitude of friends. He was a member of S. P. J. S. T. lodge and for fifty years a faithful member of the Nelsonville Church. His reputation as a good neighbor and valuable citizen will make his passing more keenly felt in that community.
Mr. Schiller is survived by eight children, Joe J., Jr., of Richmnd; Frank E., Emil B., Mrs. Alvina Kudlacek, Mrs. Annie Janecek and Ms. Walter Haedge, all of Sealy, B. W. of Nelsonville, and Eddie E. of Houston, two brothers, John and Bohuslov Schiller of Cermna, Czechoslovakia; twenty-five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Barton of Granger and Rev. H. E. Beseda of Caldwell, with Douglas Haedge, Alfred Haedge, Glendon Schiller, Edmund Schiller, Walter Janecek and Frank Kudlacek serving as pall bearers. Arrangements were in charge of Hallman of Bellville.
