Funeral services for Albina Gajewski Hammond, 89, of Sealy were held Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with Rev. Octavio Muguerza celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal.

The parish vigil service and rosary were held Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. from the Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy. Interment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Frydek.

Pallbearers for the service were Andrew Sowa, Gilbert Sowa, Placid Sowa, Milton Sowa, Daniel Orsak, Edwin Orsak and Dennis Orsak.

The former Miss Albina Florence Zapalac was born to parents Frank and Amalie Pavlicek Zapalac in Frydek. She was raised in Frydek and attended Frydek

Public School. On Oct. 10, 1933, she married August Gajewski in Frydek and after August's death, she married Daly Hammond in 1968. Mrs. Hammond was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society at Immaculate Conception.

Albina Gajewski Hammond died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 in Sealy, Texas.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Georgia and Michael Tomczak of Humble, sons and daughters-in-law Louie and Sidonia Gajewski of Bellville and Paul and Peggy Gajewski of Cat Spring, sisters and brother-in-law Rose and Earl Hering of Sealy and Frances Lastovica of Friendswood, brother and sister-in-law Alvin and Clara Zapalac of Orchard, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Amalie Zapalac, husbands August Gajewski and Daly Hammond, sisters Agnes Lamza, Mary Bielec, Stephanie Chovanec, Martha Tronowski, Mollie Smidovec, Clara Zapalac and Gertrude Zapalac, brothers Ignac, August and Frankie Zapalac, stepmother Mary Chovanec Zapalac.

Funeral services were held under the direction of the Knesek Family Funeral Chapel in Sealy, Texas.
