Funeral services for Ella Mae Kokemor Neumann were held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg with Pastor Jennifer Bohls officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Kokemor, Roland Kokemor, Clarence Kokemor, Robert Murski, Leroy Meier, Larry Reese and L. J. Rinn.
She was born Ella Mae Kokemor Aug. 28, 1928 in Burton, Texas to parents Robert and Lillie (Winkelmann) Kokemor.
She was baptized on Nov. 11, 1928 at St. John Evangelisher Church in Phillipsburg.
She grew up in Kenney attending schools in Kenney and New Wehdem, and was confirmed March 29, 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg by the Rev. A. R. Kluge.
Ella Mae was united in marriage with Wilfred Neumann on Oct. 30, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. H. Brunotte. Ella Mae and Wilfred made their home in Kenney.
A loving wife and mother, Ella Mae was employed as a cafeteria worker at Sweetbriar Nursing Home in Bellville (now Briarwood Manor Nursing Home) for 15 years.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as Memorial Fund Treasurer from 1978-1982 and as a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. She had also served as ALCW President and the Ladies Aid Vice President and Secretary for a number of years. She also enjoyed canning and gardening in her spare time.
Ella Mae Kokemor Neumann passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 in Bellville at the age of 74.
She is survived by her husband of over 48 years Wilfred Neumann of Kenney; son Bobby Wayne Neumann and his wife Peggy of Kenney and grandchildren Amy Neumann of Houston and Brian Neumann of Bryan/College Station. She is also survived by her brother Leroy Kokemor of Bellville, numerous other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
