Funeral services for Betty Janet Schovajsa, 67, of the Welcome
Community were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2003 in the Salem
EvangelicalLutheran Church of Welcome. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Rev. Mike Groseclose was the officiant.
Pallbearers were Central Texas Sound Polka Band, Larry Sodek,
Dennie Marek, Louis Krause, Spencer Schneider, Bennie Trlicek and Joey
Krenek.
Honorary pallbearers were Glen Ortz and Neil Stegent.
Betty was born in the Bleiblerville community on August 26,
1935 to Edmund W. and Alice Stark Thieleman.
She was baptized in Welcome
Lutheran Church
and confirmed in St. Peters Evangelical Reformed Lutheran
Church. She was
a
graduate of Spring Branch High School in Houston and Durham
Business
College. On April 7, 1956, Betty was married to Raymond W.
Schovajsa in
the
Nelsonville Brethren Church by Rev. Joseph Burton. She had
worked as a
seamstress at Sealy Mattress and was a member of the Salem
Lutheran Church
of Welcome.
Betty Janet Schovajsa passed away Saturday, June 23, 2003 in
Argent Court
Assisted Living Facility.
She is survived by her sons Donald Schovajsa and his wife
Alice, Michael
Schovajsa and his wife Kerri, grandchildren Brandon, Chad and
Cory
Schovajsa, step grandson Calvin Makowsky Jr. and his wife Gina
and their
daughter Madison Makowsky and her very dear friend Henry "Smokey"
Schroeder.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Raymond
W. Schovajsa.
Memorials may be given to the church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Brenham Memorial
Chapel, Brenham,
Texas.
