Leroy Fick was born Dec. 25,
1936 in Bleiblerville, Texas, the son of Albert and Olga Marie Susen
Fick. He attended school in Welcome and in Bellville.
On Jan. 16, 1960 he married Grace Wallene Pacher in Bellville. They
made their home in Bleiblerville. A carpenter by trade Leroy worked
for Henry Tiemann and then the Machemehl Brothers before starting
Fick Construction in 1965, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed cooking and
went to work for Schovajsa's Catering in Bleiblerville. He made
delicious banana bread and pecan pies, and enjoyed cooking chili for
the annual Sons of Hermann meeting. He also enjoyed spending time at
his camphouse with his grandsons, and squirrel hunting.
A member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church, Leroy also belonged to
the SPJST Lodge in Bleiblerville, the Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire
Department and the Sons of Hermann Lodge #299.
Leroy Fick passed away suddenly Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Grace Fick of Bleiblerville; children
O'Connor and husband Robert of Bleiblerville and Craig Fick of
Brenham; grandchildren Lane, Logan and Landon O'Connor of
Bleiblerville. He is also survived by his mother Olga Fick of
Bleiblerville; sister Betty Jean Heinsohn of Fayetteville and
numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father, granddaughter Emily Ann
O'Connor, brother-in-law Carl Heinsohn, mother-in-law Emma Pacher
and father-in-law Adolph Pacher.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 at the
Nelsonville Brethren Church with Rev. Michael Groseclose
Interment followed in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Pallbearers were Jerrel Schovajsa, Troy Heinsohn, Michael Wheeler,
Ronnie Geistmann, Michael Ondruch and Bryce Froebel.
In lieu of usual remembrances friends who wish may make memorial
gifts to the Nelsonville Brethren Building Fund or to the
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral
Home in Bellville, Texas.
