Ada
Nelle Shropshire Jamar died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
She was born Oct. 21, 1915 at Gainesville, Texas.
Ada moved to Austin as a child so two of her brothers could attend
the Texas School for the Deaf.
She married Harrell M. Jamar in 1935. They lived in Austin until
1967 when they moved to Houston. The focus of their lives was the
family they created: nine children, 17 grandchildren and 7 great
grandchildren.
One son, Tommy, died at age 3 in 1941. The other children are Janet
Driskell and husband Monte of Lovelady, Harrell M. Jamar and wife
Trudy of Houston, JoNelle Riffe and husband Punch, Jeff Jamar and
wife Juaneva, Phyllis Jamar, Cindy Jamar, all of Austin, Kim Jamar
Vasek and Walter E. Jamar and wife Sheila of Bellville.
Ada's devotion to her children was redeemed by Cindy Jamar.
Following
Harrell's death in 1979, Cindy relocated to Houston to live with her
mother
and has dedicated her life to Ada's happiness. Cindy and Ada
returned to
Austin in 1997.
The family thanks the amazing people of Hospice of Austin for their
advice
and extraordinary support.
A celebration of Ada's life was held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan.
30, 2004
in Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ann
Hagmann officiating.
Interment followed at Oakwood Annex Cemetery.
Honoring Mrs. Jamar as pallbearers were her grandsons Monte Jack
(Dusty)
Driskell Jr., Jamie Jamar Driskell, Harrell (Tres) Meadows Jamar
III, Ben
Jamar, Austin Caleb Jamar, Cody Meadows Vasek, Jacob Emmett Jamar
and great nephew Cody Shropshire.
