Funeral services for Gloria Ann Goebel Meyers, 71, of Millheim, were held
Friday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. from West End Baptist Church in Industry
with the Rev. Dennis Keen officiating. Interment was in the Millheim
Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Neil Meyers, Danny Meyers, Hal Smith, Stephen
Meyers, Adam Smith and Brett Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Dallas Dodd
and the Deacon Body of the West End Baptist Church.
Born in Sealy, Gloria was the daughter of Alwin G. and Lodima Schluens
Goebel. She was raised in the Millheim community, attending the first and
second grade at Millheim School and grades three through twelve in
Bellville, graduating from Bellville High School in 1950. On February 13,
1952, she married Earl Meyers, Jr. in Houston and spent most of her life
working with Earl at Bellville Butane Company. Gloria was a member of the
West End Baptist Church of Industry, the Millheim Harmonie Verein, and the
Order of the Sons of Hermann.
Gloria Meyers died Tuesday morning, August 10, 2004 at her home in Millheim.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Earl Meyers, Jr. of Millheim;
children and spouses, Neil and Mary Beth Meyers of Valdosta, Georgia, Sherry
and Hal Smith of Friendswood, and Danny and Dena Meyers of Bellville;
grandchildren, Stephen and Elizabeth Meyers, Adam and Brett Smith, Valerie
Meyers and Meghan and Dallas Dodd.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alwin G. and Lodima Goebel;
grandparents, George and Therese Goebel and Henry and Ella Schluens; and
granddaughter, Erin Michelle Meyers.
