Grave side services for Pearl C. Mitchell, 89, of Sealy were held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Blue Springs Cemetery, near Etoile, Texas with the Rev. Glenn Morton officiating. Born in Etoile, Pearl was the daughter of James D. Crawford and Mary Belle Mayes Crawford. She was raised in Etoile and attended school at the Smyrna Public School. In 1929, Pearl first married Mr. Horace Morton with ceremony held in Etoile, and after his death, Pearl and Mr. Flavel M. Mitchell were married on July 31, 1947 with ceremony held in Dickinson, Texas. Mrs. Mitchell lived in Sealy for 24 years, was the owner and operator of Tom's Dairy Bar in Sealy, and a member of The Shepherd's Way Church in Sealy. Pearl C. Mitchell died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 in Houston. She is survived by her daughters, Vernell Caldwell of Sealy, Avis Jousan of Sealy; her so,n Jesse Ray Morton and wife Jewel of Sealy; her brother, James T. Crawford and his wife, Ona Dee of Lufkin; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Belle Crawford; husbands, Horace Morton and Flavel Mitchell; daughter, Thelma Jean Morton Brady; twin brother, Buryl Crawford; three sisters; and her grandsons, Charles Edward Jousan and Ronald Ray Morton.
