Funeral services for Lelia Papke, 94, of Bellville were held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 3 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville, with the Rev. Harold Sellers, the Rev. Jeff English and the Rev. Alvis Bell officiating. Interment was in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Duane Spaugh, John Pritchet, Floyd Merten, Lee Persky, Clinton Brast, and Michael Buchtien. Honorary pallbearers were Marion Ruggles and John Bookout. Born in Washington County, Lelia was the daughter of George and Della Smith Perkins. Lelia was raised in Buckhorn and attended Buckhorn schools. The former Miss Lelia Perkins was joined in marriage to Mr. Fred Papke, April 17, 1937, with a ceremony held in the Tottenham Community. Lelia worked as a nurse's aide and after retirement she was a sitter at the nursing home. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Bellville where she taught Sunday School and was very active in all of the church's activities. Lelia Papke died July 25, 2004 in Bellville. Lelia is survived by her niece, Fay Nell Tripp of Richmond; great nephew, David Ray Tripp and wife Annette and their daughter, Alexandria, of Sugarland; great niece, Sherry Fay Ringo of Richmond and many other loving family and friends. The family would like to express their special thanks to all the staff at Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Bellville. Lelia is preceded in death by parents George and Della Perkins; husband, Fred Papke; sister, Lettie Mae Nolte and husband Lester; brothers, James and George Perkins, Jr.; and nephew, Ray Tripp. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Bellville, 504 E.
