Funeral services for Mary Sliva Schroeder, 91, of Sealy were held Sunday, September 12, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with the Rev. Bernard Snock officiating. Rosary was recited Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 7 p.m. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sealy. Serving as pallbearers were Chuck Gruener, Scott Newsome, Steven Newsome, C.J. Hejl, Cody Sweat, Tyler Sweat. Honorary pallbearers were Mason Gruener, Travis Koy, Johnny Sweat and Ken Hejl. Born in Rexville, Mary Sliva was the daughter of Ludvik R. and Ann Frances Drozd Sliva. She was joined in marriage to Charles W. Schroeder on January 7, 1939 with a ceremony held in Wallis. They were blessed with three children. Mary was always a great homemaker. She loved to cook and bake and never had anyone leave her home hungry. She loved farming and the dairy and worked alongside her husband every day of their married life as long as she was able. They loved to dance and were always a striking couple on the dance floor until they were 86 years of age. She dearly loved their children and grandchildren. Mary Sliva Schroeder died Friday, September 10, 2004, in Sealy. She is survived by her daughters, Florene Gruener and husband David of Freeport and Kathryn Newsome and husband, John Preston of Sealy; her adored grandchildren, Chuck Gruener and wife Christine of Houston, Vicki Sweat and husband Johnny Ray of Brazoria, Gayle Koy and husband Travis os Sealy, Scott Newsome and wife Vicki of Sealy, Steven Newsome and wife Audra of Sealy; and great grandchildren, C.J., Nikki and Britni Hejl, Cody and Tyler Sweat, Emily and Mason Gruener, Andrea Newsome and Karleigh and Reagan Newsome. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Schroeder; son, Charles Louis Schroeder; her parents, Ludvik and Anna Sliva; sisters, Frances Drymalla, Annie Sliva, and Willie Mae Sloan; and brothers, Willie, Jerry, John, Robert, Louis and Albert Sliva.
