Funeral services for Eva Stasney, 99, of Bellville were held on Sunday August 29, 2004, from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Medlin officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Paul Stasney, David Stasney, Dale Pressler, and William Todd Chapman. Honorary pallbearer was Alex Aguillon. Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Eva Augusta Fisher Stasney passed away August 26, 2004 with family and friends at her side. She was born June 21, 1905 in Bellville and was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Eva was the youngest of the ten children born to Ben and Lucy Fisher, an early 1890's Bellville Family. Ben Fisher's mother and father came from Freidland. He departed Hamburg, Germany with six children, his wife and sisters. They landed in Galveston in 1848. The family became part of the original families who settled in Pine Grove, north of Bellville in Austin County. Gratis Fisher, one of the children, married Martha Spence and they became Ben Fisher's parents leaving a legacy for all to share in building the community of Bellville. Eva attended Bellville schools and San Marcos Teachers College. She then taught school in the Peters school. Eva met and married John Stasney in 1929 in Bellville. John preceded her in death in 1938. In 1939, Eva opened the Hollywood Shop and continued to operate it as a long and memorable business venture until 1996. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Louise Fisher, her daughter and son in law Jean and William Fariss, and son and daughter in law, John and Dottie Stasney. She is survived by her grandchildren Evyann Fariss, David Stasney; Paul Stasney and wife Lea Ann, and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
