Monroe Louis Wienecke, 99, a lifelong resident of Bellville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 in a Bellville nursing facility. Born July 5, 1905, Monroe was the son of William and Bertha (Luhn) Wienecke. He was baptized Oct. 15, 1905 at Broomtown and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville on May 20, 1923. On Nov. 10, 1935, he was united in marriage with Alwina Zander at St. John. They made their home outside of Bellville on the farm until 1957 when they moved in town. Alwina preceded Monroe in death on May 27, 2000. Monroe was a member of the Coshatte Agricultural Society and Bellville Concordia Society and had held various leadership positions in both. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Bellville Cafe for coffee and playing cards twice a week at Concordia. He also looked forward to playing dominoes with his neighbors and friends. Monroe is survived by his children Allan Wienecke and his wife Virgia Mae of Bellville, Keith Wienecke and his wife Sue of Conroe and Lois Blum and her husband William of Katy; grandchildren Duane and Christie Wienecke of The Woodlands, Byron and Tina Wienecke of Conroe, Sharla and Jeff olive of Tyler, Scott and Jennifer Blum of Houston and Robyn and Travis Schulze of Katy; 7 great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Harry Zander and his wife Lenora, Isador Zander and his wife Illene; sisters-in-law Doris King and her husband Clarence and Ora Nell Hoppe, all of Bellville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers-in-law Herman Zander, Roy Zander and Sterling Zander and sisters-in-law Ewelyn Zander, and Lillie Dell Deutrich. Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor David Henske and Pastor Jennie Jones officiating. Burial followed in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herbert Schumann, Duane Wienecke, Byron Wienecke, William Blum, Scott Blum and Travis Schulze. Honorary pallbearers were Perry Marek and Jeff Olive. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bellville Lions Club, Concordia, Inc., P.O. Box 1011, Bellville, Texas 77418, or to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
