Funeral Services for George A. Blezinger, 97, of New Ulm, were held on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm with the Rev. Bill Mosley officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Industry. Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Jerry Halamicek, Bryan Haevischer, Dwayne Haevischer, Jay Haevischer, Charles Vana and nephew, Kermit Blezinger. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons-in-law, Bob Connors, John Laird, Brett Cash and all nieces and nephews. Mr. Blezinger was born Dec. 26, 1907 in New Ulm, to Julius and Sophie (Even) Blezinger. He was baptized on June 27, 1909 by the Rev. August Beteitin within the Salen Welcome Lutheran Church in Welcome. On July, 18, 1920 he was confirmed by the Rev. G. Szillat in the St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. On Nov. 11, 1934 he and Bessie Heinsohn were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsberg by the Rev. H.C. Poehlmann. The couple made their home in New Ulm where he operated a farm. George also worked for Scurlock Oil Co., in the 1960s. Mr. Blezinger was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. In his earlier years he served on the church council, ushered and was a member of the choir. He also served as a school board member for Industry Public School. George loved his Lord, family and country. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the joy of his life. He dearly loved farming, gardening and ranching that he shared with his wife at their country home. George A. Blezinger passed away Friday, April 15 in Bellville. He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene Halamicek of Houston, Naomi and Gerald Johnson of Gilmer, Elaine and Weldon Haevischer of Bellville, Judy and Charles Vana of Houston; eight grandchildren, Jerry Hala-micek and wife Becky, Glinda Novasad Connors and husband Bob, Nicole Cash and husband Brett, Bryan Haevischer and wife Mimi, Dwayne Haevischer and wife Suzanne, Jay Haevischer, Jayne Laird and husband John, Charles Vana II and wife Ann, eleven great grandchildren, Ben and Sydney Halamicek, Adam, Julia and Joey Novosad, Vincent Connors, Sydney Cash, Delta Haevischer, Colby Haevischer, Kaitlyn and Shane Laird, six step great grandchildren, India Richter, Erin, Remington and Eric Connors, Alex and Josh Gaddy, sister-in-law, Bernice Heinsohn, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Heinsohn Blezinger, son, George Blezinger, Jr., parents, Julie and Sophie Even Blezinger, Brothers, Louis, Hermann and Arthur Blezinger, sisters, Elsa Garlin and Mary Eben and granddaughter, Sharon Halamicek.
