Deutrich Funeral services for Wilbert "Bert" Deutrich, 63, of Bellville, were held Sunday, July 24 from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Andy Hughes, Joshua Brending, Tanner Brending, Kirk Deutrich, Randy Ueckert, Marshall Huff, Brett Everett and Charlie Morlock. Honorary pallbearers were Ray and Fred Deutrich, Scott Dement and Troy Jones. Born in the Ives Creek Community, Wilbert Ray Deutrich was the son of Ernest and Irene (Ueckert) Deutrich. He was raised in Bellville, graduating from Bellville High School in 1960. On January 20, 1978, Mr. Deutrich and the former Linda J. Pearson Attaway were married with ceremony held in Houston. Bert served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1966 to July 1968, during the Vietnam War. Mr. Deutrich worked for years as a management supervisor in the Plastics Division of Phillips Petroleum. He retired from Phillips to be a "gentleman farmer." Bert loved taking care of the farm, especially his garden. From the Houston Astros, the Houston Oilers to the Tennessee Titans to the Houston Texans, Bert was a huge sports fan. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Wilbert Deutrich died Tuesday, July 12 in Temple. Survived by his wife: Linda Deutrich of Bellville; sons: Greg Deutrich of Houston; Vince Attaway and wife Christi of Mooresville, N.C.; Kelly Attaway and wife Vallie of Conroe; daughter: Kimberli Brending of Houston; brother: Winstn Deutrich and wife Linda C. of Bellville; grandchildren: Ashton Deutrich; Paula Hughes and husband Andy; Joshua and Tanner Brending; as well as Brandon, Cody and Kyle Attaway; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Haley Hughes; nephew: Kirk Deutrich and wife Mary of Herndon, Va.; nephew: Aaron Pearson; niece: Andrea Pearson, both of Phoenix, AZ; great-nieces: Kyzia, Kalyn and Maran Deutrich; mother-in-law: Dorothy Gray of Brenham; as well as other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; Hernest and Irene Deutrich; fathers-in-law Oliver Pearson and James Gray; and brother-in-law Glen Pearson.
