Dirba Funeral Services for Mary Dirba, 87, of Sealy, Texas, were held Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with Rev. Octavio Muguerza celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. A Vigil Wake service, followed by a rosary held Monday, February 7, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sealy. Serving as pallbearers were John R. Dirba, John Allen Dirba, Weston Dirba, Henry Dirba, Jr., Joe Vacek and Chris Kulhanek. Born in Robstown, Texas, Mary Rose Skerik was the daughter of John Skerik and Mary Tysler Skerik. She was raised in Ross, Texas and attended the Ross Public School. On October 25, 1938, Mary married Mr. John Dirba, Sr., with ceremony held in West Texas. Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy and the Wallis K.J.Z.T. Society. She was a full-time homemaker, farmed with her husband, and enjoyed growing roses around her house. Mary Rose Dirba died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Brookshire, Texas. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Patricia Dirba, Henry and Margie Dirba, John and Rose Dirba all of Sealy; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her father John Skerik; mother Mary Skerik; step-mother Sophie Skerik; husband John Dirba, Sr.; brothers John and Frank Skerik; and her sisters Rose Urban and Helen Soukup.
