Funeral services for Ray Dyer, 70, of Wallis were conducted Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Chapel in Sealy with Rev. Howard Boyd officiating. He died December 29, 2005 in Katy. He was born Noel Ray Dyer, the son of Jake and Winnie Jean (Hester) Dyer in Crane, Texas. Dyer was raised in Hobbs, New Mexico. Ray was joined in marriage to the former Miss Sharon "Kay" Richards on April 28, 1961 with a ceremony held in Abilene. He was employed in mechanical maintenance for the Alief School District. Dyer served his country during the Korean conflict in the U.S. Navy and he was of the Baptist Faith. Dyer is survived by his wife, Kay Dyer of Wallis; daughter, Lorie Dyer of Wallis; son, Johnny Ray Dyer of Oregon; sisters Paula Ruder of Brownwood and Kay Frances White of Fort Worth; brother, John Dyer of Deer Park, Jerry Taylor of Tempi, Arizona and Jackie Taylor of Keller; grandchildren, Jordan Leigh Patterson, Seth Emory Clements and Jake Avery Clements; his Uncle Roy Hester and numerous nieces and nephews.
