Lee Fred Eckermann, 69, of Fayetteville, went to meet his Maker Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born Nov. 12, 1935 in Shelby to Alfred and Lillie (Helweg) Eckermann. After the death of his mother, he was brought up by his father and stepmother, Lorine Rudloff Eckermann. He was baptized June 20, 1936 and confirmed May 9, 1948 in Industry United Methodist Church. Mr. Eckermann was educated in Industry, Skull Creek, Rock House and Bellville schools. On July 31, 1955, he married Deloris Schultz in Wesley. He and his wife owned a sand pit company. He was also a farmer and rancher and loved deer hunting. Survivors include his wife, Deloris Eckermann of Fayetteville; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Joyce Eckermann of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Shana Jones and Autumn Gigout, both of La Porte; four great-grandchildren; stepmother, Lorine Rudloff Eckermann of Shelby; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Elberta Eckermann of League City, Daniel and Karen Eckermann of Longview, Dr. Lawrence and Marsha Eckermann of Houston, Arlie and Jennifer Eckermann of Brenham and Alfred Jr. and Sue Eckermann of Bellville; sister, Joyce Bridges and brother-in-law, Carl Bridges of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Arthur Kirschke; and niece, Debra Budnik. The funeral service was at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6 in Industry United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Newcomer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 5 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. His brothers and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Industry United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
