Funeral services were conducted for Mary Kathryn Fry of Centerville on October 14, 2005 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. She died on October 11, 2005 in Madisonville. Graveside services followed at 3 p.m. at the Katy Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Ashley, of First Baptist Church of Centerville, officiating. Mary Kathryn was born on April 2, 1925 in Joaquin to Sydney J. and Mary Effie Newton Clary. Mary Kathryn was united in marriage to Alfred R. Fry on December 29, 1945 in Houston. She lived most of her life in Katy until 1981 when she and Alfred retired and moved to Centerville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Centerville and served as presdient of the Women's Missionary Union for many years. She was also a former president of the Centerville chapter of AARP and was a member of the Centerville Chamber of Commerce. She was once named Leon County Citizen of the year by Chamber. Her grandchildren served as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Alfred R. Fry of Centerville; two sons and daughters-in-laws, A .Richard Jr. and Carole Fry of Bellville and William and Karen Fry of Burnet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Joe Smith of Katy and Melissa and Jeff Kaspar of Houston; grandchildren, Wayne and Christine Smith of Angleton, Matt and Kindra Fry of College Station, Cody and Dawn Fry of Harwood, Doug and Tina Smith of Katy, Jason and Allison Kaspar of Houston, Jared Kaspar of Houston, Meredith Fry and William Fry of Burnett; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Smith of Angleton, Tristin Smith of Katy, and Faith Fry of Harwood. Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Veron Clary.
