Funeral Services for Eugene Hintz, 79, of Sealy were held on Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Snock officiating. He died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in Katy. Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sealy. Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Jez, Joey Schneider, David Hintz, Gil Grabow, Fred Helinski, Lloyd Koeppen and Brian Woodbury. Honorary pallbearers were John Koeppen and Brian Woodbury, John Morris, Tommie Quinton, Ben Walker, Monuelle Jennings, Josh Woodbury, Chris Woodbury, Roy Hegefeld, adn Bryon Frazier. Eugene was born in Cat Spring, the son of Jake and Mary (Kulow) Hintz. He was raised in Sealy and graduated from Sealy High School, Class of 1943. Eugene served his country during WWII in the 34th Bomber Group where he flew 23 missions with the Army Air Force. On September 23, 1946 Mr. Eugene Hintz was joined in marriage to the former Miss Hattie Kovasovic with a ceremony held in Sealy. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad as an Engineer from 1946 until he retired in 1986. Eugene remained active with the Boy Scouts until the end of his life as camp ranger at Camp Brosig. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, VFW Post #442, German Society, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Millheim Verein Society, Native Plants Society of Texas and Austin County Democrats. He is survived by: his wife, Hattie Hintz of Sealy; daughters: Jo Marie Frazier of Sealy and Kathy Morris and husband John of Sealy; daugher-in-law: Jennifer Hintz of Cat Spring; sisters: Florene Quinton of Sealy and Bessie Koeppen and husband Sonny of Sealy; brothers: Leroy Hintz and wife Adele of Sealy and Harold Hintz of Sealy; grandchildren: Michelle Woodbury and husband Brian of Sealy, Jason Frazier of San Franciso, Allison Frazier of Sealy; twin great granddaughters: Lilith and Ananda Frazier of San Francicso; and step-great grandchildren: Josh, Chris, Sarah Woodbury; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Mary Hintz, sons, Eugene Gary Hintz, Jr. and Larry Michael "Bubbie" Hintz.
