Funeral services for Lillian Hlavinka, 86, of East Bernard, Texas were held Wednesday, May 25 at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with the Rev. Don Ruppert celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Entombment was at Holy Cross Kukral Mausoleum in East Bernard. Born in East Bernard, Lillian was the daughter of August and Albina (Faltysek) Poessel. She was raised in East Bernard and attended Muldoon School. The former Lillian Poessel married Mr. Frank (F.C.) Hlavinka September 30, 1940 with ceremony held in East Bernard. She worked as a homemaker and farmer's wife, was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard and the Catholic Daughters. Lillian Eva Hlavinka died Monday, May 23, 2005 in Wharton. She is survived by: her daughters -- Elaine Wacholtz and husband John of Plano; Lorene Henry and husband Gary of College Station; and Francene Sulak and husband Alan of East Bernard; sons -- Syl Hlavinka and wife Linda of East Bernard; Anthony Hlavinka and wife Phyllis of East Bernard; and Jack Hlavinka and wife Barbara of Davilla; brother -- Louis Poessel of Palacious; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Albina Poessel, and husband F.C. Hlavinka. Services were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
