Holtz Ruby Jean Willrodt Holtz was born Feb. 21, 1930 in Bellville. The daughter of William and Birdie Krueger Willrodt, she grew up and attended school in Bellville, graduating from Bellville High School in 1947. In 1951, she received her Accounting Degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. On Aug. 18, 1956, Ruby was united in marriage with A.L. "Al" Holtz in Bellville. They made their home in Houston until November 1974 when they moved to Bellville. Ruby was employed as an accountant for Exxon for 31 years. Since 1982, she has owned and operated Willrodt's Gift Shop. Miss Ruby always enjoyed the opportunity to visit with customers and friends that came in to the shop as she helped them select the perfect gift. She was a member of the Bellville Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary and the Bluebonnet Society. She loved her flowers and her plants, and took great pride in keeping her home spotless. Ruby passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005 in Bellville at the age of 75. She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years Al Holtz of Bellville; aunt Lucille Tefs, also of Bellville; cousins Cherry Briles and her husband, Joe, Holly Keiser and her husband, John, Marjorie Davis, Carol Pfeffer and her husband, Milton, Gloria Pfeffer and her husband, Wilford, Jewel Fontenot, Lois Palla and her husband, Louis, Shannon Briles, Cody Briles and Carson Briles; and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray Willrodt. Visitation was held Monday, June 6, 2005 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Bellville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Middleton officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Briles, John Keiser, Craig Davis, Glenn Brandt, Louis Palla and William Krueger. Honorary pallbearers were Cody, Carson and Shannon Briles. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bellville General Hospital Foundation, P.0. Box 977, Bellville. TX 77418.
