Walter Roy Hughey age 89, a resident of Canyon Lake, Texas passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005. Born Jan. 1, 1916 he was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1934. Being an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing was his piece of cake. Last hunting season while hunting with his sons he killed his limit of bucks. Walter was a loving father and greatly respected by all. He was a member of Hermann Sons Lodge. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary C. Hughey, parents Jeff and Ella Hughey, son Ben J. Hughey, grandson Curt Hughey and 2 brothers, Robert Hughey and George Hughey. Survivors include 4 children, William W. Hughey and wife Kathy of San Antonio, Pat Potts and husband Tom of San Antonio, Judy Langehennig and husband Les of Boerne, Charles A. Hughey and wife Cody of Bellville; daughter-in-law Judy Hughey of Boerne; 11 grandchildren, Kristy Elrod, Tim Hughey, Karen Martinez, Jeff Potts, Russell Hughey, Brenda Nickles, Diane Paxson, Nadine Vogt, Zeb Hughey, Rhonda Langehennig, Melanie McNearney and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation was at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at Canyon Lake at 5 p.m. Tuesday with a Rosary to recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Canyon Lake. Interment will follow at Cranes Mill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista, and especially his nurse Sue, for their loving care during Walter's illness.
