April Love Bishop Johnson was born August 7, 1973 in Houston, the daughter of Robert Morris Bishop, Jr. and Betty Darleen Vaughn Bishop. She is united in marriage with Thomas "Tommy" Johnson on March 21, 1989 at the First Baptist Church, Bellville. April and Tommy most recently made their home in Cat Spring. A longtime Bellville resident, April passed away peacefully at her home holding Tommy's hand Wednesday, April 13, at the age of 31. During her final minutes, she was surrounded by her husband, 2 of her children, her mother, aunt and uncle. She had battled cancer since the age of 27, never losing hope, holding onto life longer than her doctors thought possible. Despite losing everything in 2 house fires last year, and her failing health, April's faith and determination never faltered. She will be remember as one tough lady, willing to fight for what she believed in. Under the tough exterior was a beautiful, loving, caring , devoted wife, mother and friend. April loved to read, watch horror movies, listen to music and color. Her daughters will always remember the time they were supposed to clean house, but instead, danced the day away with Mom in the living room. They will cherish the times spent together at the park, and never forge the day they went tot he mall to see who could try on the ugliest clothes. Tommy will always remember riding with April on a motorcycle on their wedding day, and the happiness they shared. He will never forget her sweet voice, reassuring hugs and kisses, or telling each other, "I love you most." Her entire family will miss her smile and the unique way she said the words "water," "horse" and "tea." She is survived by her husband of 16 years: Thomas Johnson; daughters: April, Tiffany and Krista Johnson; and mother: Betty Darleen Bishop; all of Cat Spring; also surviving are her grandmothers: Jeanette Ashmore of Conroe, and Alta Faye Pachal of Bellville; mother-in-law; Sandy Johnson; also of Bellville; sisters: Betty Bishop of Fort Worth and Cindy Johnson of Oklahoma, and Stephen Johnson of Austin; and many other dear friends and relatives.
