Funeral services for Elvira Meischen Klaus, 90, of Shelby Community were
held Wednesday, July 13th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shelby, with the
Rev. Pam Werrell officiating. Burial followed at the Shelby Cemetery.
Mrs. Klaus died Sunday, July 10, at Trinity Care Center, Brenham. She was
born November 6, 1914 near Shelby, the daughter of Louis and Theresa
(Eckhoff) Meischen. She married Roy W. Klaus on March 3, 1936 in Warrenton.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shelby, a member of
Sons of Hermann Lodge #28, Shelby Volunteer Fire Dpt., and Shelby cemetery
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Weldon & Perlie Klaus of
Shelby; Lloyd and Nila Klaus of Cat Spring; one daughter, Joylene and
Kenneth Mathis of Shelby; eight grandchildren: Donna Brubaker, Kamala
Kitzman and husband Robert of Brenham; Jill Kitzman and husband Ken of
Ellicott City, Md.; roy Alan Klaus of Houston; Beverly Miles and husband
Chris of Houston; ryan Klaus of San Antonio; Michelle Gest and husband Tim
of Burleson; Brian Melton of Burleson; step-grandchildren: Juan & Meg
Formoso of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; Mike and Bridgette Mathis of Cartersville,
GA; 20 great grandchildren; sisters: Regina Albert of Thrall, Texas; Lydia
Weinert of Shelby; Hertha Goebel & husband Bennie of Shelby, Texas; Gladys
Baack & husband Albert of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; parents; three brothers and
sisters-in-law; Edgar & Wilma Meischen, Norbert & Hertha Meischen, and
Arthur and Alice Mae Meischen; three sisters: Laura & Bruno Ehrigson; Selma
and Alfred Bruening; and Hilda & Anton Aschenbeck; two brothers-in-law:
Wilfred Weinert and Oscar Albert.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Sergeant Memorial funeral Home, La Grange.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, Shelby or
Shelby Cemetery Association. Arrangements by Sergeant Memorial Funeral Home,
La Grange.
