Funeral services for Walter Ernst Meischen, 91, of Industry were held at 2
p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenvine with
Pastor Pamela Werrell officiating. Interment was in the Pilgrimıs Rest
Cemetery in Industry. Friends called at the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry after
10 a.m. Thursday where the family received friends from 5:30-8 p.m.
Walter Ernst Meischen was born Aug. 22, 1914, in the Welcome Community,
Texas, the son of Adolph Meischen, Sr. and Nora (Platte) Meischen. He was
baptized and later confirmed on May 19, 1929, at Salem Lutheran Church in
Welcome.
He married Erna Mary Haedge on Nov. 30, 1940, at Salem Lutheran Church in
Welcome.
A farmer and rancher his entire life, he was not allowed to join the
military during WWII because of his family farming obligations.
He was a lifetime resident of the Industry area and worked as an auto
mechanic, a lineman for Industry Telephone Company and an order clerk for
Brenham Wholesale Company until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby and enjoyed working
with his hands on anything mechanical and working on the farm. He also
enjoyed picking up pecans as well as spending time with his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Meischen passed away Monday evening, Nov. 28, 2005, in the Bellville
hospital at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 6 days.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Meischen, Sr. and Nora
(Platte) Meischen; granddaughter, Stephanie Meischen; granddaughter-in-law,
Monique Meischen; (1) sister, Regina Thielemann; (2) brothers, Adolph
Meischen, Jr. and Edgar Meischen.
Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Erna (Haedge) Meischen of Industry;
daughters, Sandra Aschenbeck and husband Herman of Round Top and Carol
Thielemann and husband Vernon of Houston; sons, Delbert Meischen and wife
Betty of Bellville and Melvin D. Meischen and wife Patricia of Cypress;
grandchildren, Shannon and husband Dr. Tarun Dewan, Kristine Alford and
husband John, Michelle Perkins and husband David, Brad Thielemann and wife
Lisa, Jeffrey Meischen and wife Jessica, Michael Scott Meischen and wife
Desiree, Rebecca Malone and husband Ryan, Jeremy Meischen; great
grandchildren Brad, Mark, Kathryn and Elizabeth Perkins, Hope and Sabrina
Dewan, Jacob Malone, Jenna Judkins, Josh and Ariel Sabik; sister-in-law,
Lucille Meischen of Industry and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund in Shelby.
