Bellville Times
Rosa Lee (Muery) Newman was born Jan. 15, 1912 in Bellville.
The daughter of Otto and Josephine (Bartay) Muery, she grew up and attended
school in Bellville, graduating from Bellville High School.
On July 15, 1938, Rosa Lee married Carrell W. Newman. They made their home
in Bellville most of their married lifetime where they were members of St.
John Lutheran Church.
Carrell preceded Rosa Lee in death on April 14, 1988.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Rosa Lee passed
away Jan. 19, 2005 in Bellville at the age of 93.
She is survived by her sons Carrell James Newman and his wife, Mary Jo, of
Bellville and Maurice Newman and his wife, Gail also of Bellville; daughters
Pattie Burgess and her husband, Paul, of Sugar Land, Sherrie Lehman and her
husband, David, of Bellville and Lesia Schwarze and her husband. Bradley,
also of Bellville; grandchildren Michael and Dody Heins of Austin, Joseph
and Trichelle Newman of Temple, Melissa Lehman of Portland, Ore., Amanda and
Donel Osterbuhr Jr. of Wichita Falls, Adrian Gutierrez of San Antonio,
Andrea and Craig Murphey of North Zulch; great grandchildren Conner and
Samantha Heins of Austin, Donnie, Christopher and Tony Osterbuhr of Wichita
Falls, Cort, Grant and Abigail Murphey of North Zulch; sisters Vivian
Doleshal and her husband Armond and Dolores Loesch; sister-in-law  Minerva
Muery; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded  in death by her parents, her husband. Carrell,, sister Ora
Nell Muery, brother, James Muery and brother-in-law Victor Loesch.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. John
Lutheran Church in Bellville with the Rev. Jennie Jones and the Rev. David
Henske officiating.
Interment followed in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael
Heins, Conner Heins, Donel Osterbuhr Jr., Craig Murphey, Adrian Gutierrez
and Joseph M. Newman.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in
