Funeral services for Marie Rabata, 91, of Wallis, were held Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at 10 a.m. from Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Richard Johnston, S.C.J. celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was at the Guardian Angel Mausoleum. Pallbearers for the service were Fred Cordova, Steve Riha, Tim Riha, Ward Broom, Stan Steele, and Victor Rabata. Born in Fayette County near Engle, Marie was the daughter of Jilji and Emilie Macha Riha. She was raised in Fayette County and attended school there. She married Frank Rabata, Jr., in Praha on Oct. 23, 1933. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, Wallis K.J.Z.T. and K.J.T., American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Marie Rabata died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 in Rosenberg. She is survived by her sons, Anthony Paul Rabata and wife Barbara of Dayton and Victor F. Rabata and wife Rose of Rosenberg; sisters, Rosalie Konvicka of East Bernard, Betty Cordova of Houston, Anna Slipska of Windsor, Conn., Christine Riha of Richmond; and brother, J.L. Riha and wife Ruth of Richmond. As well as grandchildren, Michele Broom and husband Ward of Katy and Carmen Thompson of Sugar Land; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Preston and Reagan Broom of Katy and Samuel and Alexandra Thompson of Sugar Land; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rabata, Jr.; brother, Frank Riha; and parents, Jilji and Emilie Riha. Funeral services under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home, Wallis.
