Obit Betty Lois (Guice) Ramsey was born January 25, 1920 in Winsboro, LA., the daughter of Alexander and Sally (Stephens) Guice. An especially great speller, Betty graduated with honors from Tallulah High School. Over the years Betty had made her home in numerous places including Alexandria, LA., Port Arthur, Texas and Houston, Texas before moving to Bellville in 2001. A caring and loving mother, her children were always her main priority. A Baptist by faith, she taught Sunday School during her children's early years. For six years Betty also raised and cared for a premature baby, Waldo Torres, as her own until his family returned form Mexico to take him home. She enjoyed reading, sewing, dancing and bowling. A stay-at-home mom until her children were grown, Betty attended nursing school at the age of forty-six and became an LVN. She was a compassionate caretaker and loved nursing. One of the early employees of Memorial City Hospital, she worked in the psychiatric unit and the ICU. Betty passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005 in Bellville at the age of 85. She is survived by her children: Adele Ann Lopresti and her husband, Phil, of Bellville, Lance Gregory Livingston and his wife, at, of Houston, Evelyn Elaine Smith and her husband, Jim of Raleigh, North Carolina; and her stepchildren; John L. Ramsey and Patricia Gayle Hansen. Also surviving are her 11 grandchildren: Diana Bradfield, Theresa Elaine Seiter, Sam Lopresti, Philip Lopresti, Connie Merkel, Lac Livingston, Link Linvingston, Melissa Smith and Randy Smith; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and her sisters: Evelyn Black of Newellton, Louisiana and Ada Morehead of Port Arthur. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff English officiating. Interment followed in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
