Services for Jimmy Clinton Roberts, 67, of Lubbock, were 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2005, at Monterey Church of Christ with Dr. Barry Stephens officiating. Interment was at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Jim passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 in Lubbock. He was born on Feb. 14, 1938 in Electra to the late John Clinton and Thelma Roberts. He married Barbara Collins on May 29, 1958 in Lefors. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1961. Jim was employed in rural electrification for 43 years, serving as General Manager of South Plains Electric Cooperative in Lubbock as well as San Bernard Electric Cooperative in Bellville. He represented Texas on the NRECA Board serving as president from 1993-1995. He also served as Director on the boards of the Texas Electric Cooperatives, National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp., and the Golden Spread Electric Cooperative. He recently completed a three-year term serving the Office of Rural Community Affairs for the state of Texas. Jim also was the recipient of the 2005 Clyde T. Ellis award. He was a member and elder at the Monterey Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Laura Bryan and husband Kevin of Lubbock, Melissa Gilliland and husband, Richard of Roswell, N.M., and Nancy Pechacek and husband Andy of Bellville; a brother, John David Roberts and wife, Panze of Charlotte, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Operation Roundup c/o South Plains Electric Cooperative., or the Childrenšs Home of Lubbock. The family received guests from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at the funeral home.
