Grave side Services for Max Schaffner, Jr., 98, of Cat Spring, texas, were held Monday, April 11 at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, with the Rev. Dennis Keen officiating. Born in Kenney, Max was the son of Max Schaffner, Sr and Marie Heffelfinger Schaffner. He was raised in the Kenney area of Austin County and attended school in Kenney. Max served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a rancher in the Kenney area, raising cattle. Max Schaffner, Jr., died Friday, April 8, 2005 in Bellville. Survived by his sister: Elfrieda Schaffner of Bellville: three nieces: Mary Deats and husband Eddie of Cat Spring, Fay Reznicek also of Cat Spring and Diane Coffman of Highlands; great-niece Connie Youngblood & husband Aaron of Cat Spring; great-nephews David Reznicek & wife Linda of Cat Spring, Andy, Randy and Rusty Coffman. Also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Gladys and Albert Gillam, Irene and R.C. Curlee and Lora Payne. Preceded in death by his parents, Max and Marie Schaffner, Sr., wives Ella Sander Schaffner and Hattie Gillam Schaffner, his sisters Alma Crow, Lenora Fulmer, Lillie Sander, Erna Newman, Salma Ludwig, Edna Huber and two brothers. Grave side services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
