Funeral services for Vivian Dew Spoede, 82, of Montgomery, were held
Tuesday, June 28 at the Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis with the Rev.
Ronnie Webb officiating. Internment was at the Guardian Angel Cemetery,
Wallis. She died on June 26 in Conroe.
Mrs. Spoede was born in Wilmington, N.C. on October 9, 1922 to Elsie Travis
Dew and William Vance Dew. She completed her education in Albany, GA. the
former Miss Vivian Spoede married William F. Spoede on April 7, 1947 with
ceremony held in Albany, GA., her husband of 58 years. Mrs. Spoede
participated in many community activities. While in Texas City she was a
Girl Scout Leader and Republican Party volunteer. In Oak Hill, OH. She was a
Girl Scout Leader and Cookie chairperson. In Charleston, W.V., Mrs. Spoede
volunteered at the Sunrise Museum and in a political campaign for Jay
Rockefeller. She also was a valued volunteer at the Anniston (AL) Art
Museum. 
One of her last volunteer positions was as a docent at the Hagley Museum in
Wilmington, DE. Although Mrs. Spoede was devoted to her family, her other
interests included painting, needlepoint, gardening, collecting antiques,
and traveling. She touched the lives of numerous people with her kindness. We
will miss her and will keep her close to our hearts.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Spoede of Montgomery. They have
three children: William Dew Spoede of Houston; John Travis Spoede and wife
Amy of Montgomery; and Susannah Jane Spoede Thompson DVM and husband Matthew
Valentine of Madison, N.J.
She has seven grandchildren: Brooke Morris Spoede, Elizabeth Travis Spoede,
William Tyler Spoede, Howard Clay Spoede, John travis Spoede Jr., Scott
Andrew Spoede and Kevin Valentine Thompson. She is survived by her sisters:
Mrs. Ruth Courtney and husband Herbert of Quitmann< GA and Mrs.. Shirley
McManimen of Charlotte, NC
Preceded in  death by her parents William Vance Dew and Elsie Dew, brother
William Vance Dew, Jr. and brother-in-law William McManimen.
The family requests that donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 11251
Northwest Freeway, Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77092 be given in lieu of
flowers.
Funeral services under the direction of the Knesek & Sons Funeral Home, 122
North F.M. 1093, Wallis.
